American Airlines grounds all flights

US-based airline American Airlines announced that it is experiencing technical issues affecting all its flights ahead of Christmas, causing delays across its network.

According to a report by Business Insider, an advisory from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) indicated that all of the airline's flights across the US had been grounded. The FAA stated that the request to ground the flights came from the airline itself and directed questions regarding the matter to American Airlines. Responding to a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the company stated, "Your safety is our top priority. We will get you to your destination safely once the necessary fixes are made."

'PASSENGERS DEPLANED'

Another post confirmed that a technical issue was affecting all American Airlines flights. The Bloomberg news site also reported this morning that the issue was preventing the company from calculating weight and balance requirements for its flights.

Users on X reported being deplaned from aircraft they had boarded on Tuesday morning local time. The company informed one user that they could not estimate when flights would be able to take off again. The disruption occurred on Christmas Eve, one of the busiest periods for airports. In July of this year, a global technical issue caused by CrowdStrike led to numerous flight cancellations, and American Airlines flights were also negatively impacted by that situation.
