American rapper Lil Jon converts to Islam during Ramadan
American rapper and producer Lil Jon has converted to Islam by reciting the Shahada at a mosque in California.
Jon arrived at the King Fahad Mosque in Los Angeles yesterday before Friday prayers and announced his conversion to Islam in the presence of a large congregation.

In a video shared on social media, the American rapper is seen reciting the Shahada, first in Arabic and then in English, under the guidance of the mosque's imam.

Born in 1972 in Atlanta, Georgia, the rapper, whose real name is Jonathan H. Smith, is known for his pioneering role in popularizing a subgenre of hip hop in the early 2000s.
Lil Jon, who has over 1 million followers on social media and is known for his interest in mystical beliefs, recently released a meditation album that received significant attention.
Jon became the second American known to have embraced Islam in the first week of Ramadan, following American author and activist Shaun King.
