Another condemnation of Israel's attacks from Cuba: 'Genocide'
Many heads of state continue to react to Israel's attacks on Gaza. Most recently, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said, "We condemn Israel's genocide in the strongest possible terms."
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel met with 144 Palestinian students studying at the medical school, including 53 from the Gaza Strip, on November 17, International Students' Day.
During the meeting, where Canel listened to the Palestinian medical students describe their ongoing education and the situation of their families back home, Palestinian Ambassador to Havana Akram Samhan also provided details regarding the current situation in Gaza, where Israeli attacks continue.
"WE CONDEMN THE GENOCIDE IN THE STRONGEST POSSIBLE TERMS"
Canel stated, "Nothing in Gaza can justify what is happening, and therefore this barbarism must be constantly condemned."
Reminding that two-thirds of the civilians killed by Israel are women and children, Canel described Israel's actions as an attempt to erase the future of Palestine.
Canel stated that every effort would be made for the students, whom he addressed as the "future of Palestine," to complete their medical specialization.
Expressing his hope that Palestine will exercise its right to self-determination and become an independent and sovereign state, Canel said, "We will not be among those who remain indifferent. We condemn Israel's genocide in the strongest possible terms."
In a post on X on October 18, Canel had also condemned the bombing of the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza by Israel and called for a ceasefire.
