Another new appointment from Trump: National security advisor announced

It has been reported that Donald Trump will appoint Republican Congressman Mike Waltz as his national security advisor.

According to reports first shared by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) based on sources close to Trump, and later reflected in other US media outlets, Trump has determined another name for his new cabinet.

Accordingly, Trump is considering appointing Florida Representative Mike Waltz, a former "Green Beret" soldier who previously served in Afghanistan, as the national security advisor in his new cabinet.

Waltz, who has been elected to the House of Representatives from the Republican Party for the last three terms and is known for his "hawkish" statements, particularly regarding China, will be one of the leading figures in many foreign policy issues, primarily the Russia-Ukraine war, US-China competition, and the crisis in the Middle East, should he take office in the new cabinet.

It was stated that Trump will make official announcements regarding Waltz and other mentioned candidates shortly.

Waltz, who has also served on the House Armed Services Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, previously worked as an advisor to former defense secretaries such as Donald Rumsfeld and Robert Gates, and worked at the White House during Dick Cheney's vice presidency.

Most recently, Waltz advocated for a US boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, citing the Beijing administration's oppression of Uyghur Turks in Xinjiang as the reason.
