Cyberattacks targeting train stations in the UK resulted in anti-Muslim messages being sent to passengers.
Anti-Muslim (Islamophobic) messages were sent to passengers during cyberattacks on several major train stations in the UK.
Approximately 20 stations across the country, including 11 in the capital, London, were affected by the cyberattack.
At stations managed by Network Rail, the company responsible for the country's railway infrastructure, passengers attempting to log into the public Wi-Fi network encountered anti-Muslim messages on their device screens.
The messages sent included references to various terrorist attacks in the UK and Europe.
Following the incident, the company suspended Wi-Fi services at stations nationwide and announced that it is conducting a comprehensive investigation.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police confirmed in a statement that they had received reports of a cyberattack involving anti-Muslim messages at some train stations.
The spokesperson noted that they are working with Network Rail to investigate the incident rapidly.
