Approximately 30,000 people being evacuated due to wildfire in Los Angeles

According to reports in the US press, wildfires began in Los Angeles at 10:30 local time as a result of winds reaching approximately 80 kilometers per hour combined with dry weather conditions.

While approximately 3,000 hectares of land were reduced to ashes in the Pacific Palisades area due to the fire, an evacuation order was issued for approximately 30,000 people.

California Governor Gavin Newsom stated in a press release that firefighting efforts are ongoing and declared a "state of emergency" in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, a second fire that is growing rapidly has started near Eaton Canyon, 40 kilometers away from the Pacific Palisades area.

According to the website Poweroutage.us, approximately 250,000 people in the region are without electricity, and approximately 13,000 homes and businesses are under threat from the fire.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that several people were injured due to the fire and that a firefighter suffered a serious head injury during firefighting efforts.

Many schools in the region have decided to suspend education.

Disruptions are also being experienced on metro lines due to power outages.

FEDERAL RESOURCES WILL BE PROVIDED

In a statement from the White House, it was reported that US President Joe Biden is in contact with local authorities.

The statement indicated that they are ready to provide federal assistance for firefighting efforts.

US Vice President Kamala Harris also announced that federal resources would be provided to cover the costs.
