Arab countries support call for Gaza ceasefire

Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, and Lebanon have expressed their support for the call by mediator nations to resume negotiations for a ceasefire that would end Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip, which have been ongoing for more than 10 months.

OMAN

In a written statement, the Omani Foreign Ministry welcomed the joint statement by the leaders of the US, Egypt, and Qatar, which called for the resumption of negotiations in Cairo or Doha on August 15 for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The statement expressed appreciation for the efforts being made for a ceasefire in Gaza and highlighted the importance of implementing the ceasefire agreement without delay.

The statement called for the urgent commencement of negotiations to achieve a ceasefire that would put an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.

KUWAIT

In a written statement, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry also praised the joint statement by the US, Egypt, and Qatar, noting that they support all efforts aimed at reaching an agreement that would halt Israeli attacks on Gaza.

The statement expressed appreciation for the efforts made by Qatar, Egypt, and the US to de-escalate tensions in the region.

IRAQ

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry also issued a statement welcoming the joint declaration by the US, Egypt, and Qatar.

The statement pointed out that the mediator countries have demonstrated their seriousness in resolving the humanitarian crisis in Gaza through this initiative, emphasizing that this is an important step for the stability of the region.

Expressing support for international efforts toward a ceasefire in Gaza, the statement affirmed that Iraq stands behind all efforts made for peace, security, and stability in the region.

The statement expressed the hope that the efforts of the mediator countries would yield results and put an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.

LEBANON

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib also stated in a press conference that they support the initiative by the US, Egypt, and Qatar to resume negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza next week.

Emphasizing that the Beirut administration joins the call to urgently resume negotiations in Doha or Cairo, Bou Habib noted that the Lebanese government attaches great importance to achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and the realization of a prisoner exchange.

Stating that the ceasefire agreement should be concluded without further delay, Bou Habib said they are calling on all parties to reach an agreement for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan had previously announced his support for the call by mediator nations—the US, Egypt, and Qatar—to initiate negotiations between Israel and Hamas for a prisoner exchange and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The statement, which called on the parties to the conflict, Hamas and Israel, to "respond positively and urgently to resume consultations" on August 15, urged that "neither party should waste time."

In its statement, the UAE reported that it "appreciates and fully supports the mediation efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the US to reach an agreement to end the catastrophe in Gaza."
