Araghchi: An attack on Beirut would lead to the resumption of war

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made a statement regarding the delicate ceasefire between the US and Iran and the Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

According to reports in the Iranian press, Araghchi said that the Tehran administration would not remain silent in the face of any attack on the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

In a statement to the Lebanon-based Al Mayadeen, Araghchi said, "Any attack on Beirut will have serious consequences and will lead to the full resumption of war."

Stating that they took a firm stance the moment Israel threatened to attack the suburbs of Beirut, Araghchi noted that the Iranian Armed Forces have been placed on full alert for a counter-attack.

"Contact with the US has not been severed"

Araghchi also stated that contact with the US has not been severed, but that no progress has been made in the negotiations. The Foreign Minister said that in the current process, both sides are reviewing the texts sent to each other.
