Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi directed harsh criticism at European countries during a joint press conference held in Tehran with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Araghchi argued that Europe is facing the consequences of the policies it has pursued alongside the US, stating, "Europe must face the facts; just like the US, Europe is also paying the price for its miscalculations."
Stating that there is no path other than diplomacy for resolving crises in the region, Araghchi alleged that European countries are complicit in attacks against Iran alongside the US. Touching upon the protests in France, Araghchi expressed that flawed policies are among the causes of many wars and current problems in the world.
REGIONAL CRISES AND BILATERAL COOPERATION WERE ON THE AGENDA
Araghchi said that proposals for expanding economic, commercial, political, and cultural cooperation between Iran and Russia were discussed during his meeting with Lavrov.
Conveying that developments in Palestine, Lebanon, and Yemen were also evaluated during the meeting, Araghchi emphasized that Israel's attacks on Palestinians must be stopped.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, for his part, argued that the Ukrainian administration and some European countries are acting unseriously regarding Ukraine. Lavrov thanked Iran for supporting the plans proposed by Russia.
Lavrov also claimed that the US and Israel are attacking Iran without basis, stating that they are ready to contribute to the resolution of the crisis. Expressing that they want to ensure freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf, Lavrov said that aggression against Iran must not be repeated.
