Armed attack at university in the US
It has been announced that an armed attacker who targeted people on the campus of a university in the US state of Nevada has been neutralized by police.
Nevada police stated in a post on the social media platform X that an armed attacker opened fire on the campus of the University of Nevada in the city of Las Vegas, and that multiple people had been shot.
Police reported that the attacker lost their life following return fire from security forces. Those in the area were advised to move away from the scene and go to a safe location.
In the statement from Nevada Police, it was noted, "It appears there are multiple victims at this time. Please stay away from the area, we will have more information soon."
CAMPUSES IN NEVADA CLOSED
As a precaution, police temporarily closed all campuses in Nevada.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated in a briefing that they were aware of the incident on campus and were monitoring developments.
In 2017, an armed attack occurred at the Harvest Music Festival, located a few kilometers from the campus where this attack took place, resulting in at least 58 deaths and hundreds of injuries.
