Armenian commander arrested in Karabakh

It has been reported that Major General Davit Manukyan, one of the commanders of the illegal armed forces affiliated with the so-called Armenian administration in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, has been detained, brought to Baku, and arrested by the court.

In a statement from the State Security Service of Azerbaijan, it was noted that Manukyan, an Armenian citizen and member of the Armenian army, was arrested in Karabakh. The statement recorded that despite the “withdrawal of the Armenian army from Azerbaijani territories” provision of the trilateral declaration signed between Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia on November 10, 2020, it was determined that Manukyan remained in the region and served as the so-called “First Deputy Commander of the Karabakh Defense Army.”

It was further reported that Manukyan was identified as having been involved in organizing terrorist acts in Azerbaijan, such as disrupting public safety, creating panic among the public, and orchestrating explosions and fires.

It was stated that Manukyan, who appeared before a judge on charges of “repeated terrorism by an organized group,” “illegal acquisition, storage, and transportation of firearms, their components, ammunition, explosives, and devices,” “forming armed groups and units not provided for by law,” and “illegal border crossing of Azerbaijan,” has been arrested.
