Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan meets with US Representative Witkoff

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has arrived in Washington D.C. for a trilateral meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and US President Donald Trump. Ahead of the meeting with the state leaders, Pashinyan met with the US President's Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.

According to a statement from the Armenian Prime Minister's Office, the meeting between Pashinyan and Witkoff focused on the development of Armenia-US strategic relations and future steps to be taken in this direction. The statement also noted that the parties exchanged views on the one-on-one meeting to be held between Pashinyan and Trump, and touched upon the trilateral meeting to be held with the participation of Azerbaijani President Aliyev.

US President Trump, in a post on his social media account last night, stated, "I look forward to hosting President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia at the White House for a historic peace summit. These two countries have been at war for many years, and these wars have led to the deaths of thousands of people. Many leaders have tried to end the war until now, but thanks to 'Trump', this success has been achieved. My administration has been in contact with both sides for some time. President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan will join me at the White House for the official peace agreement signing ceremony."
