Arrest warrant issued for former President!

According to reports in the Bolivian press, an arrest warrant has been issued by the prosecutor's office for Morales to testify in a "human trafficking" case.

Prosecutor Sandra Gutierrez stated in her announcement that the warrant was issued due to allegations that Morales engaged in "human trafficking" during his presidency between 2006 and 2019, adding, "Morales and the other individuals under investigation have been duly notified. No one's right to defense is being violated; everything is being conducted transparently and in accordance with the law."

Former President Morales, who has been experiencing tensions with the government of Bolivian President Luis Arce for some time, argued in his statement that he is being subjected to "political persecution."

Morales, who had previously been summoned to testify twice, had left the prosecutor's office's calls unanswered by citing various excuses.
