Assassination attempt on Ecuadorian President Noboa
A stone and armed attack was carried out on the vehicle of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa. While Noboa escaped the attack unharmed, 5 suspects have been detained in connection with the incident.
It has been reported that a stone and armed attack was carried out on the vehicle of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa.
Ecuadorian Minister of Environment and Energy Ines Manzano stated that Noboa's convoy was attacked by a group of 500 people while he was on his way to the opening of a water treatment plant in Cañar province, saying, "Shooting at the President's car, throwing stones, damaging state property; these are crimes. We will not allow this."

Stating that Noboa escaped the attack unharmed, Manzano noted that 5 suspects have been detained in connection with the incident.
In a statement issued by the Ecuadorian Presidency, it was stated that the attack targeting Noboa was unacceptable, adding, "Those detained will be tried on charges of attempted murder and terrorism."
In a statement from CONAIE (Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador), which began a strike and organized protests 16 days ago to protest the government's removal of diesel subsidies, it was argued that the events occurred due to the security measures taken for Noboa's arrival. The statement, which alleged that police and soldiers carried out a "brutal operation," said, "At least 5 of our members were arbitrarily detained."
A detailed investigation into the incident has been launched.
