Atatürk's name given to a street in Malta

In the town of Marsa, Malta, a street near the Turkish Military Cemetery has been named after Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The inauguration of the street, named 'Atatürk', took place on May 19, the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. Atatürk's motto, 'Peace at home, peace in the world', was inscribed at the entrance of the street in Turkish, Maltese, and English.

AMBASSADOR ERDENİZ ŞEN'S VISION REALIZED

In a post shared on the social media account of the Turkish Embassy in Valletta, it was stated, "The inauguration of Atatürk Street in Malta was carried out on May 19, the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, in accordance with the wishes of our late Ambassador, Mr. Erdeniz Şen." Before passing away in Ankara on May 19, Ambassador Şen had been overseeing the efforts to have the street named 'Atatürk'.

HISTORICAL TIES STRENGTHENED

Malta was used as a place of exile during the Ottoman era. Between 1919 and 1921, many prominent figures from the Ottoman Empire were exiled to the island of Malta by the British. Naming a street after Atatürk contributes to the strengthening of historical ties between the two countries.
