Attack on Turkey's Consulate General in Hannover: Is the PKK behind it?

A group of unidentified attackers targeted Turkey's Consulate General in Hannover with stones and sticks, causing damage to the building's entrance door.

It is believed that PKK supporters carried out the attack.

According to Anadolu Agency, in the city of Hannover in Germany's Lower Saxony state, alleged supporters of the terrorist organization attacked Turkey's Consulate General on An der Christuskirche Street with stones and sticks following a march permitted by the municipality for Nevruz celebrations.

Material damage occurred at the entrance door of the Consulate General building.

Consul General Gül Özge Kaya met with German authorities following the attack.

İlhami Oğuz, President of the Union of International Democrats (UID) in Lower Saxony, stated that he spoke with Hannover Consul General Gül Özge Kaya following the attack.

Oğuz conveyed that Consul General Kaya had met with German authorities after the incident and demanded that the event be clarified and that the security of Turkish non-governmental organizations be ensured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding the attack, which included the following remarks:

"On the night of March 26, an attack was carried out on the entrance door of our Consulate General in Hannover by supporters of the PKK terrorist organization. There were no casualties or injuries in the incident. Following the attack, contact was made with German authorities, reminding them that the German authorities are responsible for the security of our citizens and diplomatic missions, and it was conveyed that they should not allow actions aimed at provoking the Turkish community in Europe."
