Attack on two commercial ships in the Black Sea

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority announced that two commercial ships flying the flags of Panama and Barbados, which were moving along the navigation corridor, were attacked and that damage occurred on the vessels. The statement noted that one of the ships was arriving at the Port of Odesa, which is critical for Ukrainian exports, with a cargo of metal, while the other was carrying grain and was targeted as it was departing the port.

According to the statement, a fire broke out on one of the ships but was extinguished in a short time by the crew. While there was no loss of life in the incident, both ships continued their journeys.

Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper claimed in a statement that the attacks were carried out by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Kiper said, "The enemy continues to terrorize the Odesa region and aims to disrupt the operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor."

Oleh Kiper also stated that Russian UAVs launched attacks on the south of the Odesa region in several waves, hitting civilian targets and energy infrastructure.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet made a statement regarding the matter.
