Austerity measures in Pakistan due to war

The Pakistani government has implemented new austerity measures following energy supply difficulties caused by the ongoing war in Iran.

The government has decided that businesses such as wedding halls, markets, and shopping malls across the country must close at 8:00 PM.

Under the decision, bakeries and restaurants are permitted to remain open until 10:00 PM, while pharmacies have been exempted from the restrictions.

Penal actions will be taken against businesses that do not comply with the closing times.

The government also announced a comprehensive austerity plan that includes a four-day work week, cuts to fuel allowances, and a 20 percent reduction in expenditures across all public institutions.
