Six workers lost their lives after an avalanche occurred during road construction work at a mine site in the Republic of Buryatia, Russia.
An avalanche occurred during road construction work at a mine site located in the Muysky District of the Republic of Buryatia, Russia.
Nine workers at the site were trapped under the snow, with 3 workers managing to escape on their own.
Approximately 60 personnel from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reached the mine site and began search operations for the 6 workers trapped under the avalanche.

It was reported that a second avalanche occurred during the search and rescue efforts throughout the day, but the rescue teams managed to escape and survive this incident.
In a written statement, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that the lifeless bodies of the 6 workers trapped under the avalanche had been recovered. The Investigative Committee of Russia and the Buryatia Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation into the incident has been launched.
