Axios: Agreement reached between US and Iran, Trump's approval awaited

The US press has suggested that an agreement has been reached between delegations in the negotiation process between the US and Iran. According to a report by the US-based news site Axios, citing two US officials and a local diplomatic source, the parties have agreed on a 60-day memorandum of understanding aimed at extending the ceasefire between them and initiating negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program. However, it was stated that US President Donald Trump has not yet given his final approval to the agreement.

US officials said that Trump is evaluating the terms of the agreement but has not signed the document immediately. One official stated, "The US President told the mediators that he requested a few days to evaluate this matter."

According to the US official's statement, the memorandum of understanding provides for the "lifting of restrictions" on maritime transport in the Strait of Hormuz. The official noted that this means no transit fees will be applied in the Strait of Hormuz region and no incidents of harassment fire will occur.

"US blockade will be lifted"

The statement also expressed that the blockade imposed by the US Navy in the region will be lifted, but this will be carried out in proportion to the return of commercial maritime activities in the region to normal. It was stated that the memorandum of understanding will also include discussions on a mechanism that will help Iran begin receiving commercial goods and humanitarian aid. According to the statement, the US will also commit to discussing the lifting of sanctions and the release of frozen Iranian assets as part of the negotiations.

Officials noted that the Tehran and Washington administrations reached a broad consensus on the articles of the agreement last Tuesday, but the final approval of the leaders has not yet been obtained.
