Axios: Trump ordered no new attacks against Iran yesterday
The US-based news site Axios has claimed that US President Donald Trump gave instructions yesterday not to carry out any new attacks against Iran. It was noted that this instruction came after a delegation from Oman visited the capital, Tehran, to discuss mechanisms for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Following the US military's ongoing attacks against Iran for approximately two weeks, it was noted that no new operation was carried out last night. The US-based news site Axios claimed that US President Donald Trump gave instructions yesterday not to carry out any new attacks against Iran.
In the report, which cited two unnamed US sources, it was stated that for the past 13 days, Trump had approved attack plans from the military every day, and the operations were carried out a few hours after approval.
It was alleged that a similar attack plan was submitted for Trump's approval yesterday, but instead of approving the plan, the US President gave instructions not to carry out the attack. While the report stated that the US military continues its preparations for a return to large-scale operations against Iran, it was underscored that Trump has not yet issued an order to that effect. It remains unclear whether Trump's instruction was valid for only one day and whether the attacks will continue.
Omani delegation in Tehran for talks on the Strait of Hormuz
It was stated that Trump's instruction not to carry out attacks against Iran came a few hours after an official visit by a delegation from Oman to the Iranian capital, Tehran, yesterday, aimed at establishing a new mechanism for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Local sources in the region claimed that progress had been made in the talks between Oman and Iran, and that an agreement could be reached between the Tehran and Muscat administrations this weekend. Axios wrote that for the agreement in question to take effect, Trump must accept the proposed arrangements.
The White House has not yet made an official statement on the matter.
