Axios: US-Iran meeting cancelled

Reports in the US press stated that the US did not accept a change in the location and format of the meeting scheduled for Friday with Iran.

It was initially announced that the meeting would take place in Istanbul, and subsequently, Oman was announced as the venue for the talks between the two countries.

According to initial reports from Axios, US President Donald Trump had accepted Iran's request to move the talks from Turkey.

On the other hand, a diplomat familiar with Iran's demands had stated that Tehran wanted to "change the format and narrow the scope." It was noted that Tehran wanted to discuss only the nuclear issue with the Americans, while the US wanted to discuss other topics such as ballistic missiles and the activities of Iran's proxy forces in the region.

"TALKS REACH A DEADLOCK"

However, according to a new report in Axios, the US informed Iran that its proposal was not accepted. Axios wrote that the talks have reached a deadlock.

Meanwhile, a statement from Iran indicated that Tehran is only prepared to discuss nuclear issues. The statement said, "The US insists on discussing nuclear issues; we are only ready for nuclear talks."
