Axios: US-Iran memorandum of understanding to be signed 'electronically'

According to the latest statement by President Donald Trump, the US press has claimed that the memorandum of understanding expected to be signed between the Tehran and Washington administrations tomorrow will be "signed electronically." According to a report by the US-based news site Axios, citing US officials, the US and Iran are planning to hold an online meeting tomorrow, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar.

It was noted that the parties are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding that would extend the ceasefire between them for 60 days, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and initiate negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program.

According to the report, US officials and sources from the mediating countries confirmed that the signing ceremony would be held entirely online for "logistical reasons." One of the reasons for conducting the process online was cited as the fact that the negotiating delegation led by US Vice President James David Vance would not be able to return to the country before President Trump's expected official visit to France on Monday.

Trump is expected to attend the G7 Summit to be held in France between June 15-17 and to meet with the leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the sidelines of the summit.

A US official, making a statement regarding Trump's planned G7 contacts, said that the main agenda of the meetings would be the agreement to be made with Iran and the opportunities that will arise in the region after the war ends.

It was also stated that topics regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the international coalition that the UK and France are working on to clear the strait of mines are expected to be discussed during the meetings.
