Azerbaijan reacts strongly to Israel's so-called 'Armenian genocide' decision

Azerbaijan has reacted strongly to Israel's move regarding the so-called "Armenian genocide."

In a statement issued by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was noted that the decision taken by the Israeli government to recognize the 1915 events as the so-called "Armenian genocide" distorts historical facts and harms efforts for lasting peace and reconciliation in the region, calling on the Israeli government to reconsider its decision.

The statement said, "The decision taken by the Israeli government regarding the so-called Armenian genocide is deeply concerning. Distorting historical facts regarding the 1915 events and turning complex historical processes into political decisions lacking legal and scientific foundations is unacceptable.

Such steps do not serve reconciliation and mutual understanding; on the contrary, they further deepen existing contradictions and hinder efforts for lasting peace and reconciliation in the region. We call on the Israeli government to reconsider this decision.

Azerbaijan will continue its consistent stance on protecting historical facts, respecting the principles of international law, and promoting lasting peace in the region."
