Azerbaijan reacts to France's 'lethal arms sale'

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has reacted to France's recent provision of lethal weapons to Armenia. In a statement issued by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, referring to the agreement signed between France and Armenia for the sale of "Caesar" artillery systems, it was stated, "France's provision of lethal and offensive artillery systems and other weapons to Armenia is further proof of France's provocative activities in the South Caucasus region."

The statement also addressed the claim by the French Ministry of Defense that the military equipment supplied to Armenia in 2023 was for defensive purposes, noting that the current agreement exposes France's hypocrisy and that the administration of French President Emmanuel Macron, through its policy of intrigue in the region, is hindering normalization and lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"A PATH LEADING TO A NEW WAR"

Stating that the current situation in the region is being jeopardized by France, the statement said, "France's provision of lethal weapons to Armenia is further proof of its provocative activities in the South Caucasus region. The rearmament of Armenia by France, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, and the support given to the Armenian leadership's policy of revenge is both political irresponsibility and a path leading to a new war."

"FRANCE IS CONDUCTING A DISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN"

The statement noted that as a colonial empire, France has a negative history of creating areas of war and conflict in various parts of the world throughout history, adding, "The processes taking place in New Caledonia and other overseas colonial territories, the exploitation of local peoples, the looting of their natural resources, the changing of the demographic structure of these regions as a result of racist policies, and the suppression of protests with blood and armed force show the true face of the Macron administration. Instead of ending colonialism, France is conducting a dirty propaganda and disinformation campaign against Azerbaijan. We state that the responsibility for the worsening of the situation in the South Caucasus region and the start of a new war will belong entirely to the Armenian leadership, which is pursuing a revanchist policy, and the Macron dictatorship."
