Azerbaijan summons German ambassador to ministry

A "flag" tension has emerged between Azerbaijan and Germany. According to a statement from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Germany's Ambassador to Baku, Ralf Horlemann, was summoned to the ministry because German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier included the flag of the so-called Armenian administration that occupied Karabakh in a post on his social media account during his visit to Armenia.

According to the statement, it was noted during the meeting that the post was a political provocation against Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and an apology was demanded from Germany.

It was stated that this post by the German President contradicts the statements made regarding support for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as the ongoing peace process.

At the same time, it was noted that the use of expressions regarding Armenian residents in the Karabakh region, while ignoring Azerbaijan's formerly occupied territories and the rights of more than 1 million Azerbaijanis forcibly displaced from Armenia, is another indicator of a biased attitude toward Azerbaijan.

'NAGORNO-KARABAKH' REMINDER TO THE AMBASSADOR

During the meeting, it was also conveyed that Azerbaijan had ensured its territorial integrity and justice by resolving the conflict, which lasted for nearly 30 years, through military and political means, and that the conflict is therefore a thing of the past. It was reminded that there is no administrative unit called "Nagorno-Karabakh" in Azerbaijan, and it was stated that non-existent, politically motivated, and misleading expressions should be avoided when referring to the country's territories.
