In a statement released by the Syrian Presidency, it was stated that 48-year-old Asma al-Assad was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia following medical examinations and tests conducted after she exhibited various symptoms and clinical signs.
It was reported that Asma al-Assad will undergo a special treatment protocol that includes isolation conditions, and therefore she will remain away from public activities.
Asma al-Assad had announced in August 2019 that she had beaten breast cancer, which was diagnosed at an early stage in 2018.
Acute myeloid leukemia is known as a type of cancer that affects the bone marrow and blood cells.
