Bank of America Vice President killed in stabbing attack in Times Square

Erin Piacenti, the 32-year-old Vice President of the Business Selection and Conflicts of Interest unit at Bank of America, lost her life and a 68-year-old individual was injured in a stabbing attack that occurred in Times Square yesterday afternoon. The assailant was neutralized as a result of police intervention. The injured individual's condition is reported to be stable.

"The suspect attacked a 68-year-old man"

New York Police Department (NYPD) Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated in a press briefing regarding the incident that the attack was carried out without any provocation and that the two attacks occurred approximately 20 seconds apart. According to the statement, the assailant first approached a 68-year-old man who had just exited a subway station and was waiting with his wife to cross the street. According to a witness statement given to the police, the suspect pulled two knives from a red shopping bag before attacking the man. While the person injured in the attack was taken to the hospital, the suspect then proceeded down the street and attacked Piacenti. Piacenti, who was injured in the attack, lost her life at the hospital where she was taken.

The assailant threatened police officers

Tisch stated that police teams spent approximately 4 minutes talking to the suspect on the street, attempting to get her to drop the knives in her hands. The assailant refused to surrender, threatened the police officers, and pointed the knives at them.

It was reported that despite the police teams using a taser, the suspect did not stop, leading the officers to open fire on the suspect. The suspect lost her life at the hospital where she was taken following the intervention.

Records exist regarding the suspect's mental health

The suspect was identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, who lived in the Queens borough of New York. It was noted that while Cisneros had not been previously arrested, there was a documented mental health history in NYPD records due to two incidents that occurred in 2018 and 2019.
