BBC staff complain about the institution's approach to Israel

The British newspaper The Times has claimed that the BBC's approach to the Israel-Palestine conflict has caused some employees to cry at work and take leave due to the distress they feel.

According to the report, concerns from the institution's own staff that "the BBC views Israeli lives as more valuable than Palestinian lives" were raised during a meeting with senior editorial officials this week. Furthermore, an email detailing these concerns was sent to BBC Director-General Tim Davie.

''MANY PEOPLE ARE DEEPLY DISTRESSED''

A source who spoke to The Times expressed the following regarding the matter:

"What Hamas did was horrific and no one is excusing Hamas's actions, but the mood of many people in the building is that we are not reporting the news accurately. Staff are crying in the toilets and freelancers are sacrificing their earnings by not coming to work due to the distress they are experiencing. Many people are deeply distressed."

"ATTEMPTS ARE BEING MADE TO JUSTIFY ISRAELI OFFICIALS"

Rami Ruhayem, one of the BBC's Beirut correspondents, also accused his employer of valuing Israeli lives more than Palestinian ones, stating that BBC reporters often treat Israeli officials softly in interviews and grant them "ample airtime to justify their actions."

BBC IS INCITING WAR WITH CERTAIN WORDS

In an email sent by Rami Ruhayem to BBC Director-General Davie, which was also shared with BBC News international staff, the following statements were made:

'Words like 'massacre', 'slaughter', and 'atrocity' are used prominently when referring to Hamas's actions, but are almost never used when referring to Israel's actions. Does this not raise the question of the BBC's potential complicity in incitement, dehumanization, and war propaganda?"
