Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib: 'At least 15 women are sexually assaulted in Gaza every day'

Speaking at the panel, Lahbib drew attention to the situation of women in Gaza, stating, "At least 15 women are sexually assaulted in Gaza every day."

In her opening speech at the panel, Minister Lahbib emphasized that women and children are the most affected and victimized by conflicts occurring around the world.
Lahbib stated in her speech, "Conflicts have a very negative impact on women and vulnerable groups. They are living in very poor conditions, especially in places like Gaza and Ukraine. Globally, 70 percent of children and women have been victimized."
Pointing out that sexual assaults in Gaza are like an epidemic, the Belgian Foreign Minister drew attention to the situation in Gaza, where conflicts have intensified recently, and used the words, "At least 15 women are sexually assaulted in Gaza every day."
"WE WANT A CEASEFIRE"
Belgian Foreign Minister Lahbib drew attention to the situation of women in Gaza in a statement she made to İHA following the panel.
Lahbib said, "We know that in all conflicts, women are the first victims. The most recent example of this is Gaza. The war is hitting the civilian population, and people are turning into refugees. For this reason, we want a ceasefire. We want unconditional access to humanitarian aid and the release of hostages."
Emphasizing the worsening situation in Gaza, Minister Lahbib added, "We have also decided to provide humanitarian aid together with Jordan to deliver water, food, and medical supplies by air."
