Biden attends ceremony for three US soldiers

The remains of three US soldiers who died in a drone attack on a base near the Syrian border in Jordan have been brought back to their country.

US President Joe Biden was present at the ceremony held for the remains, which were brought to Dover Air Force Base in the state of Delaware. 

During the ceremony, which the US Air Force calls a "dignified transfer," Biden and his wife Jill Biden first stood in silence before the flag-draped coffins in the cargo section of the aircraft.

Biden, who wore a long black coat and appeared somber, placed his hand over his heart as the soldiers' remains were removed from the plane and placed into a vehicle. The ceremony concluded after the vehicle carrying the remains departed the base.

Biden was also accompanied at the ceremony by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Air Force General Charles Q. Brown.
