Biden calls on Israel to halt operation

U.S. President Biden responded to a question regarding the latest situation in Lebanon at the end of a press conference held at the White House concerning Hurricane Helene.

Biden responded to a question about whether he was aware of Israel's potential "limited ground operation" into Lebanon and whether he was satisfied with Israel's plan.

Biden stated, "I'm more aware than you might know and I would be comfortable with them stopping. We should have a ceasefire now."

1,217 PEOPLE KILLED IN ISRAELI ATTACKS

The Israeli army, which has been engaged in controlled clashes with Hezbollah since October 8, 2023, launched hundreds of airstrikes on September 23 against southern Lebanese cities as well as the Bekaa and Baalbek regions.

According to Lebanese authorities, a total of 1,217 people, including 104 children and 194 women, have been killed since September 17, when communication devices used by Hezbollah were detonated.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in airstrikes carried out by the Israeli army on Beirut on September 27.

Hezbollah, meanwhile, is responding to Israel with rockets and missiles. No major damage has been reported in these attacks, which mostly target army bases on the Israeli side.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced within the country due to Israeli bombardment.

While the wave of migration from the southern parts of the country toward the capital, Beirut, and the north continues, it is reported that tens of thousands of people have migrated to Syria.
