Biden's first assessment regarding the Trump defeat

Former US President Joe Biden spoke about the Trump defeat in an interview. Taking responsibility for losing the election to US President Donald Trump, he stated, "I was in office, and he won."

Evaluating Trump's performance in his first 100 days, Biden attacked his successor, saying, "He has had the worst 100 days any president has ever had."

Regarding his loss in the election, the former president said, "I take responsibility; I take it because, look, I was in office, and he won."

Biden also said he was "not surprised" that former Vice President Kamala Harris lost to Trump, adding, "Not because I didn't think the vice president was a qualified person to be president, but because they followed a sexist path. I mean, this is a woman. I had never seen such a successful and consistent campaign that promoted the idea that a mixed-race woman could not run the country. And they played it quite well."

When asked about concerns regarding his health, especially after his poor debate performance against Trump last June that ultimately led to his withdrawal from the race, Biden replied, "The only reason I dropped out of the race was that I did not want a divided Democratic Party."

Joe Biden assessed, "I haven't lost many debates in my life. I was pretty good at doing that. I was sick, I have no excuse. I had a bad, a very bad night."

Biden also pushed back against reports suggesting that his mental health had declined in the final year of his presidency, saying, "These are false things. There is nothing to support that."
