Biden's first statement following the killing of Nasrallah: 'A measure of justice'

US President Joe Biden has made statements regarding the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli strike.

Stating that Nasrallah and the Hezbollah organization he led were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans, Biden said, "His death in an Israeli airstrike is a measure of justice for his many victims, including thousands of Americans, Israelis, and Lebanese civilians.”

Noting that the strike in the capital Beirut yesterday was a response to Nasrallah's decision to open a “northern front” against Israel, Biden stated, “The United States fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself against Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and any other Iranian-supported terrorist groups.”

"OUR AIM IS TO DE-ESCALATE CONFLICTS THROUGH DIPLOMATIC MEANS"

Biden added that he has directed the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, to further strengthen the force posture of US military troops in the Middle East to deter further aggression and reduce the risk of a broader regional war.

Stating that their goal is to de-escalate the ongoing conflicts in both Gaza and Lebanon through diplomatic means, Biden said, "It is time for these agreements to close, for the threats to Israel to be removed, and for the broader Middle East region to gain greater stability."
