Biden's Rafah warning to Israel! 'We are opposed...'

US President Joe Biden held a joint press conference at the White House following his meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Noting that they discussed current developments in Gaza and the Middle East in a comprehensive manner, Biden explained that he has a close and sincere relationship with the King and that there is a strong relationship between the two countries based on common interests.

Pointing to Israel's attacks in Gaza, Biden stated, "In the war that has been going on for the last 4 months, the Palestinian people have experienced unimaginable pain and loss. Too many, more than 27 thousand, innocent Palestinian civilians have been killed in this conflict, including thousands of children."

Noting that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians do not have access to food, water, and other basic necessities, Biden said, "Many families have lost not just one but multiple loved ones and cannot even mourn for them, cannot bury them because it is not safe to do so. This is a heartbreaking situation. The loss of every single innocent life in Gaza is a tragedy."

US IS WORKING ON A 6-WEEK HUMANITARIAN PAUSE

On the other hand, the US President stated that they are working with allied countries in the region on a humanitarian pause between Israel and Hamas that could last at least 6 weeks, and that they aim to ensure both a hostage exchange and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza during this time.

BIDEN'S RAFAH WARNING

Reiterating his remarks that Israel should not enter Rafah without a well-structured plan, Biden emphasized that the civilians in Rafah, where more than 1 million people have taken refuge, must be protected.

Biden stated, "Many people in Gaza have been displaced, and more than once; they moved from the north to the south and are now trapped there. These people must be protected. We are opposed to the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza."

KING ABDULLAH'S CALL FOR AN IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE

King Abdullah II of Jordan also noted that the situation in Gaza has turned into an unsustainable humanitarian crisis.

Stating, "We cannot afford an Israeli attack on Rafah; it is certain that this would create another humanitarian catastrophe," King Abdullah said, "We need an immediate, lasting ceasefire; this war must end."

Underlining that humanitarian aid must be delivered to Gaza urgently, King Abdullah stated that they are working with the US and regional countries on this matter and on a hostage exchange deal.
