Blinken discusses Gaza with his Egyptian counterpart
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed bilateral relations and the latest situation in Gaza during a phone call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. The importance of close cooperation was emphasized during the call.
According to a statement from the U.S. Department of State, Blinken and Shoukry spoke over the phone.
Highlighting the importance of continued cooperation with Egypt, Blinken and Shoukry reiterated their commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Blinken thanked Shoukry for his role in increasing humanitarian aid sent to Palestinians in Gaza and in the release of hostages through the Rafah Border Crossing.
Emphasizing the importance of taking concrete steps to minimize harm to Palestinian civilians in Gaza and ensuring that Palestinians are not forcibly displaced, Blinken and Shoukry agreed to work in close cooperation regarding Israel's attacks on Gaza and bilateral goals.
