BMW recalls more than 720,000 vehicles

German automotive giant BMW has decided to recall approximately 720,000 vehicles sold in the US due to a risk of short circuiting.

The issue lies in an electrical connection in the vehicles' water pump. This connection can short circuit when exposed to water, increasing the risk of fire.

The statement noted that in these vehicles, an improperly sealed electrical connector in the water pump could be exposed to water and short circuit, pointing out that the short circuit increases the risk of fire.

WATER PUMP AND PLUG CONNECTOR TO BE INSPECTED

The statement, which indicated that the potential number of vehicles affected by the recall is 720,796, reported that dealerships will inspect the water pump and plug connector free of charge, replace them if necessary, and install a protective shield.

The statement noted that notifications are expected to be sent to owners of the affected vehicles starting October 4.

Earlier this month, BMW recalled more than 100,000 vehicles in the US due to an engine fault that could cause overheating or, in rare cases, fire, and last week it recalled more than 1.3 million vehicles in China.
