Boeing with cracked windshield lands shortly after takeoff

A crack was detected in the windshield of an aircraft belonging to All Nippon Airways, one of Japan's largest airlines, shortly after takeoff.

In a statement issued by the airline, it was stated that the Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which took off from New Chitose Airport in Japan's Hokkaido region bound for Toyama Prefecture, had a crack in its cockpit windshield and returned to land shortly after takeoff.

The statement noted that the 59 passengers and 6 crew members on board were safe, and that the window surrounding the cockpit consisted of 4 layers of glass, with the crack identified in the outermost layer. It was emphasized that the crack did not affect flight controls or the aircraft's cabin pressure.

NOT THE MODEL WITH THE BLOWN-OUT DOOR

On the other hand, it was stated that the Boeing 737-800 aircraft is not one of the Boeing 737-MAX 9 type aircraft that experienced a blowout of its emergency exit door last week.

Last week, the emergency exit door of an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-MAX 9 passenger plane flying from Portland to Ontario in the US had blown out.

Alaska Airlines had decided to ground all Boeing 737-MAX 9 aircraft in its fleet following an emergency landing caused by a pressure drop on a Boeing 737-MAX 9 aircraft. United Airlines had announced that inspections of its Boeing 737-MAX 9s revealed that some bolts on the aircraft's panels and doors were loose.
