Bomb threats against Trump's nominees

Many individuals selected by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump for his cabinet and administration have been targeted by bomb threats and swatting incidents.

Karoline Leavitt, whom Trump has selected as White House Press Secretary, announced that many of Trump's nominees received threats yesterday and today, and that law enforcement responded quickly to take precautions. While Leavitt did not provide information regarding the other individuals targeted by the threats, she stated, "We are following President Trump's example. Dangerous acts and violence intended to intimidate us will not deter us from our path."

Elise Stefanik, whom Trump has nominated as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), announced today that a bomb threat was made against the home where she lives with her family. Stefanik said, "The New York State, County, and Congressional police intervened immediately and demonstrated the highest level of professionalism."

"WE TAKE THREATS SERIOUSLY"

In a statement issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), it was stated that bomb threats and swatting incidents were made against individuals nominated by Trump for his new administration, and that they are working in cooperation with other security agencies regarding the matter. An FBI spokesperson said, "We take all potential threats seriously and, as always, we encourage members of the public to report anything they consider suspicious."

There has been no statement from Trump yet regarding the bomb threats.

Trump survived two assassination attempts during the 2024 presidential election process. Trump was wounded in an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania last July. In September, while the Republican politician was at a golf course in Florida, Secret Service agents apprehended a suspect with a rifle who was hiding in the area.
