The statement noted that the surgery was successful and that 79-year-old Lula da Silva is currently being kept under observation in the intensive care unit.
The hospital administration, stating that Lula da Silva's recovery process is being closely monitored, announced that a press conference regarding the matter will be held at 09:00 local time.
No statement has yet been made by the Brazilian Presidential Office regarding Lula da Silva's condition.
It was reported that the surgery was deemed necessary after Lula da Silva sought medical attention for headaches following a fall at home in October.
The Brazilian President had canceled his trip to Russia for the BRICS summit following the incident.
