Breaking Bad's Gustavo: 'I considered destroying myself so they could survive'

Famous actor Giancarlo Esposito, known for his role as "Gustavo Fring" in the series Breaking Bad, described a difficult period he went through in 2008 during a radio program he attended.

Esposito said, "The way out in my brain was: If someone commits suicide, do they get life insurance? My wife had no idea why I was asking that. I started to plan. If I could get someone to kill me, death by misfortune, the kids would get the insurance," he said.

"I CONSIDERED DESTROYING MYSELF"

Esposito used the expressions, "I had four children. I wanted them to have a life. They were hard times. I literally considered destroying myself so they could survive."

"IT WAS THE FIRST SIGN THAT THERE WAS A WAY OUT"

Giancarlo Esposito, mentioning that the Breaking Bad series changed his life, said the following:

"That was the first sign that there was a way out, but I wouldn't be here to be with my kids. Then I started to think that's not viable because the pain I would cause them would be lifelong, and there'd be a lifelong trauma that would just extend the generational trauma that I'm trying to move away from. The light at the end of the tunnel was Breaking Bad."

The famous actor stated that he joined the cast of the series following the financial difficulties he experienced and that it changed the course of his career.
