The FBI will lead the investigation into the attack on former U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a post on the FBI's official X account, it was stated: "FBI Pittsburgh Field Office special agents, crisis response team members, and evidence response technicians immediately responded to the scene."

The post noted that "We will continue to support this investigation with the full resources of the FBI, alongside our partners in the U.S. Secret Service as well as state and local law enforcement," and confirmed that the investigation into the attack on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, would be conducted by the FBI.

FBI: THE INCIDENT IS AN ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

FBI official Kevin Rojek held a press conference regarding the attack on Trump.

Stating that they are seeking support from individuals at the campaign rally, Rojek said, "We are treating this as an assassination attempt."

Rojek emphasized that an active investigation is currently underway at the crime scene and that the attacker's motive is also being investigated.

"We are close to identifying the person who carried out the assassination attempt on former U.S. President Trump, and we will make an announcement once the information is confirmed," said Rojek, noting that work is ongoing.

Kevin Rojek stated that they are investigating whether the attacker acted alone and added that there is currently no evidence of an additional threat.

Rojek said that photos are being examined and DNA testing is being conducted to identify the attacker, and that they will share information with the press once they have definitive results.

ATTACKER NEUTRALIZED

Rojek announced that the attacker was killed in the incident, one person at the rally lost their life, and two others are in critical condition.

Stating that no additional support was requested from the FBI for the campaign rally, Rojek avoided answering questions regarding whether there was a security failure.

Pennsylvania State Police official George Bivens stated that the attacker was male.

FBI IDENTIFIES THE ATTACKER

The identity of the attacker who carried out the assassination attempt on Trump has been determined. The FBI announced that the attacker was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

It was stated that Crooks, who was killed after security forces intervened following the firing of 8 shots, lived in Bethel Park.

While the FBI stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing, they noted that inquiries into why Crooks carried out the attack are continuing.

NEW FOOTAGE EMERGES

CLAIM THAT THE ATTACKER WAS REGISTERED WITH THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

According to Reuters, the 20-year-old attacker who fired at Trump was registered with the Republican Party.

It was stated that the attacker, who opened fire with an AR-15, was shot in the head and killed.

ALLEGATIONS FROM EYEWITNESSES

Eyewitnesses at Donald Trump's rally claimed they had warned the police about the attacker in advance.

According to a BBC report, an attendee named Greg Smith claimed that the attacker was seen by audience members minutes before carrying out the attack.

"HE STAYED ON THE ROOF FOR 3-4 MINUTES"

Noting that he saw the attacker crawling onto the roof, Smith also stated that it was clearly visible that the attacker was carrying a weapon and that he remained on the roof for "3-4 minutes" before being neutralized.

CLAIM THAT "POLICE DID NOT INTERVENE"

Stating that police forces were wandering around, Smith said, "We said, 'there is someone with a gun on that roof,'" indicating that they had reported the attacker to the police, but the police did not take any action.

Noting that he could see U.S. Secret Service officials looking at him from a barn at the rally site, Smith said, "The Secret Service was looking at us from the top of the barn. I pointed at the roof. I was just standing there with my hand pointing at the roof. Then I looked and 5 shots were fired."

Smith explained that he determined the Secret Service was looking at him with binoculars, saying, "Because of the slope of the roof, they probably couldn't see the attacker, but this isn't a large area, why isn't there a Secret Service official on every roof? This is a security failure, a one hundred percent security failure."

Another eyewitness who spoke to CBS News shared the information, "I was looking around and I saw a man moving from one building to another on top of one of the buildings, and I went and told a police officer that he was on the roof. When I returned to my place, I heard people saying they could still see this person from where they were standing."

The witness emphasized that they returned to tell the police officer that if they came to their location, they would be able to see the attacker, and noted that they heard gunshots immediately afterward.
