Breaking News: Passenger plane crashes in Russia! No survivors...
An An-24 passenger plane carrying 49 people has crashed in Russia's Amur region. There were no survivors from the burning wreckage.
It has been announced that an An-24 passenger plane crashed in Russia's Amur region after losing contact with the control tower, and that its wreckage has been located.
Amur Regional Governor Vasiliy Orlov stated in his remarks regarding the accident that there were a total of 49 people on board the aircraft. It was reported that 43 of these were passengers and 6 were crew members. Governor Orlov announced that 5 children were among those who lost their lives.
The TASS news agency reported that no one survived the tragedy. Initial investigations at the scene confirmed that the fuselage of the plane was found in flames.
In their preliminary assessment regarding the cause of the accident, authorities are focusing on the possibility that a crew error during landing under poor weather conditions led to the crash.
The plane, reported to belong to Angara Airlines, had taken off from the Russian city of Tynda and was heading toward the Amur region, near the Chinese border. The aircraft disappeared from radar shortly before landing, after which emergency search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area.
Authorities have announced that a comprehensive investigation into the incident has been launched.
