"DEVASTATION ALMOST THE SIZE OF GERMANY"

The report stated that the destruction covers an area almost the size of Germany, noting that entire cities are filled with mountains of rubble and that the disaster caused an estimated 148.8 billion dollars in damage. It was also noted that this damage corresponds to nearly 10% of Turkey's GDP.

The article mentioned that residents of the Antakya district of Hatay were forced to relocate to different cities after the earthquake, and emphasized that reconstruction efforts are slowly beginning in areas where ruined ancient mosques, Turkish baths, and covered bazaars are located.
