Call to 'surrender' from Iran, sanctions decision from the US: New developments on the 8th day of the war
In a statement issued by Iran's Supreme National Security Council, a call was made for "those who have been deceived by Israel and are cooperating, whether consciously or unconsciously, to surrender voluntarily."
Efforts against Israeli agents continue in Iran. Iran's Supreme National Security Council has issued a call to individuals who have been deceived by Israel and are cooperating, whether consciously or unconsciously.
In the statement issued by the Council, it was announced that these individuals have been given until Sunday, June 22, to surrender voluntarily.
The statement included the following: "Individuals who, without the intention of cooperating with the enemy during the war, have made contact with the regime or its elements out of a simple idea of cooperation or unknowingly, and who have fallen into the trap of this regime with the start of the war, must surrender within the specified period."
The statement, which noted that those wishing to surrender can apply to law enforcement and security forces, said, "Those who surrender with their mini unmanned aerial vehicles, equipment, and weapons will be covered by Islamic amnesty and will be able to return to society."
SANCTIONS DECISION FROM THE US
In a statement issued by the US Department of the Treasury, it was reported that sanctions will be imposed on 8 entities, 1 individual, and 1 vessel on the grounds that they played a role in the procurement of sensitive machinery for Iran's defense industry. The Department also imposed sanctions on 12 entities and 2 vessels regarding illegal oil shipments providing support to the Houthis in Yemen.
A new sanctions decision has come from the US against Iran, with which relations have become strained due to its nuclear program. In the statement issued by the US Department of the Treasury, it was reported that sanctions will be imposed on 8 entities, 1 individual, and 1 vessel on the grounds that they played a role in the procurement of sensitive machinery for Iran's defense industry.
TWO OF THE ENTITIES ARE HONG KONG-BASED
The Treasury Department reported that two of the 8 sanctioned entities are based in Hong Kong and that shipping firms named Unico Shipping Co Ltd and Athena Shipping Co Ltd played a role in the transport of sensitive materials. It was announced that within the scope of the sanctions, these companies' assets in the US have been frozen and they are prohibited from doing business with US citizens.
US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent said, "We are committed to preventing the procurement of dual-use technology and components that support the Iranian regime's ballistic missile, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and asymmetric weapons programs."
OIL NETWORK PROVIDING SUPPORT TO HOUTHIS ALSO TARGETED
According to the statement issued by the Department, 4 individuals, 12 entities, and 2 vessels were also added to the sanctions list under counter-terrorism authority due to "illegal oil trade" conducted as part of support for the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen. It was stated that the sanctions target activities aimed at oil trade and the transport of other illegal goods that provide revenue to the Houthis.
"THESE STEPS ARE NECESSARY FOR SECURITY"
In his statement, US Treasury Secretary Bessent said, "The US will continue to stop the regime's efforts to procure sensitive, dual-use technology, components, and machinery that form the foundation of its ballistic missile, UAV, and asymmetric weapons programs. These sanctions target not only Iran's lethal weapons production capability but also its illegal activities that threaten regional stability and global security."
