China's 'we stand with our Arab brothers' statement: Support for Lebanon against Israel

Remarkable statements have come from China regarding the events in the Middle East, where tensions are steadily escalating. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian stated that steps must be taken to prevent further tension. The spokesperson also sent a message saying, 'We stand with our Arab brothers,' signaling that China could take an active role in Middle East politics in the future.

Jian made the assessment regarding the regional crisis, which has escalated with Israel's attacks on southern and eastern Lebanon, at a daily press conference held in Beijing.

Expressing that China is closely monitoring developments and is shocked by the loss of life caused by military operations, Spokesperson Lin said:

'China opposes any violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and security. We condemn any action that harms civilians. We call on all parties to take immediate measures to de-escalate, prevent further escalation, and protect peace, stability, and the safety of the people in the Middle East.'

The foreign ministry spokesperson stated that the attacks on Lebanon have increased concerns that the conflict will spread to the region, adding, 'We are ready to work with all parties and make every effort for peace and stability in the region.'

Pointing out that as the gravity of the situation in the Middle East increases, the efforts of the international community to de-escalate tensions become all the more important, Lin said, 'No matter how the situation develops, China will always be on the side of justice and will remain committed to peace and stability in the Middle East.'

CHINA'S 'WE WILL STAND ON THE SIDE OF JUSTICE' MESSAGE

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Abdallah Bou Habib in New York on Monday.

The following expressions used by Yi in the press statement made after the meeting drew attention:

'No matter how the situation develops, we will insist on standing on the side of justice and with our Arab brothers, including Lebanon.'

Wang had expressed China's support for Lebanon's sovereignty and its opposition to 'indiscriminate attacks on civilians.'

ISRAEL'S ATTACKS CONTINUE

The Israeli army has carried out hundreds of airstrikes on Lebanon since the morning of September 23, targeting southern cities as well as the Bekaa and Baalbek regions.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 558 people, including 50 children and 95 women, were killed and 1,835 people were injured in the attacks.

The wave of migration from the southern regions of the country to the capital Beirut and the north continues.

While the Lebanese Ministry of Education announced that education has been suspended nationwide, the Ministry of Interior announced that schools in the south of the country have been opened to shelter citizens displaced by Israeli attacks.

According to a statement from Rambam Hospital, the largest health complex in Israel's Haifa region, 11 people with minor injuries were brought to the hospital due to panic or shrapnel wounds caused by rockets fired from Lebanon on September 22-23. In the city of Nahariya in northern Israel, 9 people were slightly injured.

According to a report by the Haaretz newspaper, 1 person died and 1 person was seriously injured in a traffic accident caused by panic while air raid sirens were sounding in the Lower Galilee region on September 22.
