Chinese Foreign Minister's statement on Taiwan: 'It's just a matter of time'
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made statements regarding Taiwan at the 14th National People's Congress. Arguing that Taiwan is a part of China, Wang stated that the country will 'sooner or later be reunified.'
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized in a press statement regarding Taiwan that they will never compromise on the 'one China' principle. He said that Taiwan can never be independent and that the days when the entire international community will support China's integrity are not far off.
Stating that China will continue to strive with the utmost sincerity for a 'peaceful' reunification, Wang also expressed that it is clear that China will never allow Taiwan to separate from the motherland.
China's policy on Taiwan focuses on the two sides reuniting without the need for war. However, in statements made from time to time, China indicates that the military option remains on the table, especially if interventions by the USA increase.
Saying that anyone who attempts to pursue Taiwan's independence will be held accountable before history, Wang added that anyone in the world who turns a blind eye to or supports Taiwan's independence 'will get burned for playing with fire and will taste the bitter fruit of their own actions.'
Noting that more than 180 countries and international organizations have reaffirmed their commitment to the 'one China' principle following the two elections held in Taiwan in 2024, Wang said this shows that the One China principle has become a universal consensus of the international community.
