Claim from Israeli press regarding Turkey: Syrian President survived at least three assassination attempts

The Israeli press has claimed that Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara has survived at least three assassination attempts since taking office, thanks to Turkish security forces.

According to reports in the Israeli press, the first assassination attempt against al-Shara occurred last March as he was leaving the Presidential Palace and was thwarted after Turkish security forces identified a suspicious individual.

The reports stated that the suspect was captured and interrogated, and it was alleged that the assassination attempt was kept secret from the public at al-Shara's request.

The reports further stated that the second assassination attempt against al-Shara occurred during his visit to the city of Daraa near the Jordanian border, noting that Syrian and Turkish security forces assigned to al-Shara's convoy spotted two suspects, changed the convoy's route, and thus al-Shara survived this attempt as well.

The reports claimed that the third assassination attempt against al-Shara was nearly successful, stating that it occurred while al-Shara was on his way to the Presidential Palace, though no further details were provided regarding the final attempt.

The reports noted that no group has claimed responsibility for these assassination attempts, adding that it is believed the attempts were organized by the terrorist organization ISIS.

The Syrian Presidency has not yet made an official statement regarding the reports of these alleged assassination attempts.
