Claim that Iran will present a new revised proposal to the US

Following claims that US President Donald Trump rejected a proposal submitted by Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war on the grounds that it did not address Tehran's nuclear program, it has been suggested that Iran will present a new, revised proposal to the US.

In reports based on unnamed sources close to the mediation process in Pakistan, the US press claimed that mediators expect to receive a new, revised proposal from Iran within the next few days that would end the war.

The reports stated that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to return to Iran today following his visit to Russia and will consult on the proposal with Iranian leaders. Noting that the difficulty of communicating due to the secrecy surrounding the location of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has caused the process to move slowly, the reports conveyed that the process is ongoing and remains uncertain, adding that the next steps depend largely on whether Iran returns with a proposal that is more acceptable to the US.

In a statement on his social media account, Trump claimed that Iran is in a state of collapse, stating, "Iran just informed us that they are in a state of collapse. While they try to resolve their leadership situation (which I think they will be able to do), they want us to open the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible."
