It has been claimed that Israel is preparing to announce the defeat of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, in Gaza.
While statements have come from Israeli officials suggesting that the total destruction of Hamas is not possible, the state broadcaster KAN suggested that the Tel Aviv administration is preparing to declare the defeat of the Al-Qassam Brigades in Gaza soon, in light of the possibility of increasing attacks against Hezbollah on the Lebanese border.
The report noted that following the end of "military activities" in the city of Rafah, the Israeli army would continue to conduct its "operations" in the Gaza Strip in various ways during what is known as the third phase of the war, though no details were provided.
Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated on June 19, "To say that we are going to make Hamas disappear is to throw sand in the eyes of the public." Hagari expressed that the only way to weaken Hamas is by establishing a new government in Gaza.
